Today the voters elected Ann Kirkpatrick and I want to be among the first to extend my congratulations to her. Together with our new President, Barack Obama, America must now move forward to meet its challenges here at home and abroad. Let us begin this movement with bipartisan cooperation and a determination to act with newfound integrity in solving the problems facing us in CD1, Arizona and the nation.

My name is Brent G. Maupin. As citizens of the United States of America, we have become far too complacent with the ineffective legislative process that now permeates throughout the executive and legislative branches of our federal government. Too many of us have given up, thinking that there is nothing that we can do because the legislative procedures used by our elected officials are out-moded and no longer serve the best interests of the people. Thus, when we send someone new to Washington, they get caught in this unworkable process and then too become ineffective in keeping the promises made during a campaign. Enough is enough!

Brent was born April 1954 in Redding, California and grew up working on a small family ranch while his father worked as a barber and his mother as an office manager. He went on to graduate Cum Laud from the University of the Pacific, Stockton with a degree in Civil Engineering. Brent and his family settled in northern Arizona fifteen years ago where the children, Taylor and Angela, attended public schools in the Village of Oak Creek, Sedona. Taylor is now a student at the University of Maryland studying engineering and Angela is a junior in high school, and both often trek the CD1 District during school and summer vacations campaigning with Dad.
It is time to Stand Up America! Our elected politicians in Washington are allowing themselves to be manipulated by special interest groups and by the power of a select few who have held positions in Congress far too long: This trend must be reversed. Simply put, I represent authentic change as your independent candidate. I have no party affiliation and will represent only the best interests of the citizens of Arizona and of America.
